Presenting… Our Online Competition Winners for the Peace Anthem!

September 4, 2012 -

Peace – it’s a theme that has inspired generations upon generations of musicians. Partnered with cult online channel SB.TV, we set out to find a new generation’s messages of peace. With a brilliant backing track that was inspired by New Day Foundation‘s track Going For Gold, we had some incredibly talented people create and submit their peace messages for our anthem – thank you to each and every one of you! We absolutely loved hearing your thoughts, musings, messages and ideas, all communicated in the most creative and brilliant way through your music.

We announced the winners of our online competition last week and those lucky enough to be at our Peace Mix Presents gig at the Roundhouse even heard a very sneaky preview of the unpolished peace anthem!

We loved the words and beats we heard from these entries, so check out below the original tracks that the winners of the online competition submitted. Listening to them will give you a glimpse of the exciting anthem SB.TV is polishing up right now… and make sure you comment and let us know what you think!

With great flow and some inspiring and down to earth word smithing, this piece by 22 year old Laughta is the perfect fit for our peace anthem. She’s living for the moment and we’re digging it!

Prince Phillip gave us his edition of his definition of peace and what it really meant to him. This 22 year olds’ message takes our peace anthem global and we’re excited to hear it come together on the final track!

With its roots in the everyday and with words for the world, this track from 16 year old JoeJas has the flow and brought home the message. “He said, she said, but peace is what we crave today.” Word.

Peace Mix has found some serious talent in Whispers – he’s just 15 years old yet he has laid down his words to the Grime base track like a professional. As well as some slick and creative rapping, his message of peace is one that we are loving.

The talented 20 year old Sunni added his own instrumental tale to our Grime base track – we think it sounds pretty great on its own, so we can’t wait to find out how SB.TV will work it into our overall anthem of peace!

Stay tuned for the beats and vocals that will be featured on the track that were submitted while Peace Mix was on the road – we’ll be sharing them soon!
